Video » A Visit in an Olive Mill in November
One of the excursions that we recommend during the month of November is the visit of an olive mill. The olive harvest takes place in November. The mills are numerous. The one we show you in this video is located in Castelvetrano, on the southwest coast of Sicily, an area famous for the excellence of its olive oil made from olives “Nocellara del Belice” which have got a delicious flavour. Castelvetrano is also famous for its “Black bread” made with two type of flour of ancient grain: the Sicilian durum wheat and Tuminia. Because of its circular shape, it is called “vastedda”. The best way to enjoy the Black Bread of Castelvetrano is slicing it while still warm and sprinkle the slices with just pressed olive oil: an unforgettable Sicilian Slow Food experience!
